About our organisation
The Occupational Dermatology Research and Education Centre (ODREC) was established at the Skin and Cancer Foundation, Victoria in March 2001.
In September 2001 ODREC received funding for 5 years from the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing to operate as the National Collaborative Centre for Research and Education into Occupational Contact Dermatitis. This enabled the creation of a small research group active in the area of occupational contact dermatitis. Currently there are eight part time staff members, some of whom are involved in the operation of the Occupational Dermatology Clinic. The clinic transferred from Monash Medical Centre to the Skin and Cancer Foundation in March 2001.
ODREC aims to:
- Reduce the incidence and impact of occupational contact dermatitis in Australia
- Promote effective prevention and treatment solutions
- Develop educational resources for the prevention of occupational contact dermatitis (OCD)
- Understand the current situation concerning OCD in Australia and to establish an effective information base
- Educate at multiple levels in organisations, professions and specific workforces
- To become recognised as an advocate for the prevention and reduction of cases of OCD with particular emphasis on legislative change
